Goodwood Festival of Speed
I had never been to this event before so when we were asked by Mercury
Distributors, Barras to exhibit the boat there in turn for free tickets I
jumped at the chance. Unfortunately Mike could not make the event so I went
along on my own but it was great fun.
What an amazing place, thousands of people came along on a beautiful sunny
weekend in picturesque Goodwood. Like a boat show but with tonnes of cars on
display. There were drag cars, soap boxes, last years’ Formula One Grand
Prix cars, rally cars, and most make of car you could think of.
The highlight of the day for me was watching the Formula One cars do their
stuff and fly around the circuit there in fine style. I saw Ralph Schumacher
and a number of others fly past and some more adventurous drivers doing
rather impressive 360 degree spins in front of the stands. One in fact
finished with a minor engine fire and had to be pushed off…the price of
showing off! Barras had kindly given me a grandstand ticket which I did make
the most off…..fantastic!
The boat took pride of place on the Barras stand and once again attracted a
great deal of attention despite the presence of an Inshore Formula Lake boat
and an Endurance Boat. I also had the opportunity to meet up with various
suppliers and Hartland Web Design our sponsors so all in all it was a great
day out and once again, great PR for the boat.
