From Extremeboat.com - April 2007

Mike and Jackie are delighted to announce their participation in the 2008 Round Britain Race in June/July 2008

With the kind support of Tony Fiddy and his 40ft Panatec, previously known as Follett Cars, now sponsored by Naanovo Energy, we are looking forward to taking part in this historic offshore endurance racing challenge. The last time this race was run was in 1984, and as then, this will be the adventure of a lifetime for those taking part and a true test of man and machinery against the power of the sea and mother nature.

The intended course for this race can be seen below:

Visit the Round Britain website to find out more about the race, the history, the competitors and much more

As the plans progress and we move closer to the race, we will provide more information about the boat and how the testing is going. We may also be looking for some help, so contact us on Boatmad or email us at extremeboat to find out more!

This will be an historic race and only the third time in the history of Offshore Powerboat Racing in this country that the race will have been held. The event will once again start and finish off Portsmouth and will follow the same format as the 1969 and 1984 events which will include ten legs over twelve days including two lay days via the Caledonian Canal. This is a 1600 nautical mile race and will undoubtedly be the longest and toughest race to take place for many years. This race is equivalent to taking part in the 200 mile Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race every day for ten days and is not, therefore, for the faint hearted. We believe that it will be the greatest Offshore Powerboat Race to be held in the world for many years.
